PikiTalk Privacy Policy


Article 1. Overview and Significance of the Privacy Policy
PikiTalk (hereinafter referred to as the "Company") strictly complies with the Personal Information Protection Act, the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, and other applicable privacy-related laws of Korea, from the planning to the termination of the service. The Company also follows international standards, including the OECD Guidelines on the Protection of Privacy.
This Privacy Policy outlines how the Company uses personal information and the measures it takes to protect such information through designated app services.
This Privacy Policy applies to all PikiTalk services.

 

Article 2. Personal Information Collected (Mandatory Information Disclosure)

2.1. Information collected during membership registration

1. PikiTalk Account

2.2. Information collected during service usage

• Device information (OS, screen size, device ID, phone model, device name)
• IP address, cookies, visit timestamp, service usage history, records of unauthorized use
• Customer service inquiries (including transaction and withdrawal-related inquiries)

 

Article 3. Method of Personal Information Collection
The Company collects personal information using the following methods:

• Directly input by the user during sign-up and service use
• Via customer service inquiries (e.g., phone, email)
• Participation in events or promotions
• Device information automatically collected

 

Article 4. Purpose of Use of Personal Information
Collected personal information is used for the following purposes:

• Member management: registration, identity verification, guardian consent verification, account misuse prevention
• Service provision: message delivery, friend registration and recommendations, personalized content
• Payment and billing: for paid service transactions
• Security and fraud prevention: detection and blocking of abnormal service use
• Service improvement: development of new services and personalization
• Marketing and advertising: event/promotion announcements, advertisement effectiveness analysis

 

Article 5. Retention and Use Period of Personal Information

• Personal information is deleted without delay when the member terminates the service or requests account deletion.

• However, if retention is required by law, data will be securely stored for the legally mandated period and then deleted.
 

Retention periods according to applicable law:

• Records related to e-commerce (5 years)
• Records related to contracts or withdrawals (5 years)
• Records related to payment and consumer protection (3–5 years)
• Website visit logs (3 months)

 

Article 6. Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties
The Company does not disclose personal information to external parties by default. However, information may be provided with the user’s consent or when required by law.

 

Article 7. User Rights and How to Exercise Them

• Users may access, modify, or delete their personal information at any time via the [My Account] menu.
• Users may request to stop processing of their personal data, except where restricted by law.
• Legal guardians may view, modify, or delete the personal information of users under the age of 14.
• The Company promptly takes necessary actions upon request and informs third parties, if applicable.

Article 9. Child Privacy Protection Policy

9.1. Collection and Use of Children’s Personal Information

• PikiTalk does not collect personal information from children under the age of 13 and restricts their access to the service.
• If parental consent is not obtained, no personal data of child users will be collected.

9.2. Protective Measures for Children’s Data

• Children's personal data is encrypted during storage and transmission, and not shared externally.
• Access restrictions and safeguards are applied to prevent misuse.

9.3. Deletion and Guardian Rights

• Guardians may request access, modification, or deletion of their child’s information.
• Upon request, data will be deleted immediately.
• For account deletion, guardians may contact customer service.     

9.4. Third-Party Disclosure Limitations

• PikiTalk does not provide children’s data to third parties without guardian consent.
• Exceptions apply only in cases of legal enforcement requests.

Article 10. Post and External Link Features and Personal Data Protection 
The company provides users of PikiTalk with features that allow them to tag product information and include external links (URLs) when creating posts within the PikiLand service. During this process, users may include personal data of others or post links that lead to third-party websites.

• The company may automatically collect behavioral data such as clicks on product tags, redirections through external links, and post views. This data is used solely for statistical analysis aimed at improving service quality and providing personalized content. The collection and use of behavioral data is governed by Articles 2 and 11 of this policy.

• The company does not pre-screen or control the inclusion of third-party personal information in posts or personal data contained within external links. It bears no responsibility for the accuracy, legality, or appropriateness of such information. 
• Any personal data collected or used through external shopping malls or third-party websites linked in posts is subject to the privacy policy of the respective external site. The company is not responsible for any data breaches or privacy violations that occur on external services. Users must review the privacy policies of external websites before accessing them.
• The company may automatically collect behavioral data such as clicks on product tags, redirections through external links, and post views. This data is used solely for statistical analysis to improve service quality and offer tailored content. The methods for collecting and using behavioral data are governed by Articles 2 and 11 of this policy.

 

Article 11. Use of Automatic Data Collection Tools

• The Company may use cookies and similar technologies to automatically collect user information during service use.

• Users can block or delete cookies via browser settings.

 

Article 12. Scope of Privacy Policy

• This Privacy Policy applies to Piki and related services (including mobile web/app).
• For other services, once personal data is provided with user consent, this policy may no longer apply.

Article 14. Amendments to the Privacy Policy
The Company will notify users at least 7 days in advance of any amendments to this policy. If there are significant changes to user rights, at least 30 days’ notice will be provided.

 

 

Addendum
1. This Privacy Policy shall take effect on May 26, 2025.
2. The key amendments are as follows:

1. Addition of Article 10: Policy on Post and External Link Features and Personal Data Protection

3. Continued use of the service after the effective date shall be deemed as acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
